Let's face it, a producer with the moniker Whirling Hall Of Knives is scarcely likely to specialise in sun-blanched Balearic house or Enoesque ambience but "Germanium", though it certainly has its moments of brutality, is less the EP of ear-murdering racket than you might think. The vicious kicks of opener "Vacuuluus / Interm1" dissolve into a sea of abstract noise while "Muryoyin" is a strange throbbing thing that seems uncertain whether to erupt into full scale aural carnage or disappear altogether. "PFP-WK" is techno smothered in blaring air horns and "Intern2 / Null Takk" is a fog of abstract ambience that sounds like a wildly malfunctioning candy floss machine. Noisy, yes, pointlessly so, no.
